Man charged after whole drawer of Diazepam stolen from Sussex pharmacy

A man has been arrested and charged after a burglary in a Crawley pharmacy that saw a whole drawer of Diazepam stolen.

Sussex Police “responded to a report of a burglary to a pharmacy in Tilgate Parade in Crawley” at 7.05am on March 22, it said.

“A quantity of medication was taken” from the pharmacy during the incident and officers including a “forensic team” attended the scene, it added.

Kamson’s Pharmacy on Tilgate Parade, where the incident took place, told C+D last week (March 29) that the drugs taken were Diazepam.

The burglar took “everything that was in our drawer” but no other types of medication were stolen, they said.

The “front door was smashed in” but the incident happened overnight so there was no one in the pharmacy at the time, they added.

Man charged

Sussex Police told C+D today (April 6) that a man had been charged in connection with the incident.

“David Pritchard, 30, of Carshalton Road, Sutton, has been arrested and charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of possession of an offensive weapon in public,” it said.

Mr Pritchard appeared before Crawley Magistrates’ Court on March 24, where he “was released on conditional bail”, it added.

He is next scheduled to appear before Horsham Magistrates’ Court for trial on July 25, according to local police.

A spokesperson for the pharmacy told C+D they were pleased that a man had been charged in connection with the burglary.
