Pharmacy giant Alliance Boots has shaken up its health and beauty division with the appointment of two chief operating officers reporting to Alliance Boots health and beauty chief executive Alex Gourlay. Boots UK retail director Simon Roberts and commercial director Ken Murphy will each take on the role of chief operating officer reporting to Mr Gourlay. Mr Roberts will maintain responsibility for the retail and pharmacy aspects of the business, but gains additional responsibility for Boots Opticians. Mr Murphy will continue to be responsible for trading, brands, supply chain, commercial business development and marketing. Mr Gourlay said: "These appointments will enable us to have an even better balance between day-to-day performance and the longer term development of the Boots UK, Boots Ireland and Boots Opticians businesses. It will also allow us to concentrate on the strategic direction of the Division and how it can support Alliance Boots to further internationalise the Boots retail and product brands."
