C+D Training has unveiled PharmTech, a two-year pharmacy technician training course and enrolled its first 15 students on the programme.

The PharmTech programme is designed to take pharmacy staff members from dispensing assistant to registered pharmacy technician and includes 20 learning modules on subjects such as biochemistry, cardiovascular disorders and the dispensing process.

Students will be able to submit their coursework entirely online, and will receive a level three diploma in pharmaceutical science and an NVQ level 3 in pharmacy service skills upon successful completion. The knowledge assessment will involve short answer questions in controlled conditions, while students will submit an e-portfolio to demonstrate their practical competencies.

The course, which has seen C+D Training become an approved City & Guilds examination centre, costs £1,250. This price covers all course materials, including a student guide and supervisor guide for the supervising pharmacist or pharmacy technician. Students who have already completed C+D's Benchmark course will pay a discounted price of £1,070.

PharmTech is open to anyone who already holds a dispensing assistant qualification and works in a pharmacy for a minimum of 14 hours a week. For further information call 0207 921 8425
