Cegedim hit with two EPS outages within 24 hours

Cegedim Rx has apologised to affected customers

Cegedim Rx was hit by its second IT outage in 24 hours yesterday (February 28), although both issues have since been resolved.

C+D readers reported a morning of anxiety yesterday as difficulties downloading electronic prescriptions were compounded because it was the last day of month.

Cegedim Rx told C+D today that it had resolved the issue experienced by “some” customers in England by 2.50pm. But the systems supplier was then alerted that a “much smaller number” of pharmacies were “impacted by a secondary electronic prescription service (EPS) issue caused by a further firewall problem”.

It informed these customers at 8.30pm that this issue had been fixed and “critical care monitoring continued throughout the night”.

Cegedim Rx apologised to affected pharmacies, adding: “We are closely monitoring the service this morning and have seen no further issues.”

“Investigations continue with our suppliers to ensure we understand the root cause of this problem [and] prevent future reoccurrences,” it added.

Have you experienced issues using EPS recently?

Typical of "Cegedim Rx" to be making the apologies recently. Perhaps an artificial not-very-intelligence has taken over as their spokesperson as no actual human person wants to be personally quoted. Come on C&D you must have spoken to a live person with a name. The PSNC needs to force something on Cegedim that means they have to pay contractor a fine any time there is an outage from whatever cause. I've said before from what I know about the mindset of senior personnel at this company they will not sort these problems unless financially punished.

I don't think I've seen a reported case of any other systems having as much issues as Cegedim for a long while?
