GPs use Twitter to deter patients from other flu jab options

This poster was tweeted on September 13, urging patients to get their flu jab at their GP practice

Patients are being urged to support "struggling" GP surgeries by opting to have their flu jab at their local practice, rather than elsewhere, C+D has learned.

GP Survival – a campaign group made up of GPs that describes itself as “a voice in support of UK general practice” – tweeted a poster (pictured) urging patients to get their flu jab at their surgery.

An online debate followed:

C+D has approached both NHS England the GP Survival for comment, but had not received a response at the time of going to press.

Pharmacy staff in north London and Bolton have also reported that some GP practices are "chastising" patients from receiving their flu jab in a pharmacy. Read more here.

Question:
Have you seen evidence of GPs discouraging patients from using pharmacy flu jabs?

I went to the GP State of Emergency Facebook page to have a polite discussion, but I was booted off after being insulted and my posts deleted. It seems that the sense of entitlement is as great as it ever was.

My question is why are healthcare professionals in a situation where we are actively being placed at odds with one another? We should be working together for the good of our patients, not against each other for petty sums of money.

What a fantastic dream , but it will never happen . Dr's are a powerful force because they "stick " together and are supported by strong body, the BMA.    you probably know whats coming next-- Pharmacist do NOT stick together and have no real support from any professional body !!

Bully boys trying to destabilise the playing field when they are already well remunerated... Lets see what happens when local community pharmacies (that are genuinely struggling and don't get rent, staffing, training, etc subsidies) go under!!

Sachin Badiani, Pharmacy owner/ Proprietor

This year, pharmacy will definitely beat last years total NHS flu jabs. This will be a success despite the negative forces from GP land. All for the benefit of the patient..
