Pharmacy IT systems must be more closely linked to those of GPs to secure an enhanced role in service provision for pharmacists, a system supplier has warned.
The comments came as Rx Systems outlined plans to integrate its ProScript PMR system with those of GP supplier EMIS, which acquired Rx Systems in August 2010.
Ian Taylor, managing director at Rx Systems, told C+D: "Pharmacy can look to provide services, but without a secure means of communication to GPs, it won't work."

Pharmacies could also be given access to extra healthcare information to support consultations.
