Sanofi recalls typhoid vaccine batches

The MHRA has issued a drug alert that Sanofi Pasteur MSD has recalled 16 batches of its typhoid vaccine Typhim Vi following concerns about the effectiveness of the vaccine in some syringes, following filling problems in the manufacturing process.
Remaining stock of the vaccines should be quarantined and returned to the original supplier for credit.
Anyone who has been vaccinated with Typhin Vi from January 7, 2011 may be insufficiently protected from typhoid, so further advice regarding precautions should be given.
