Supplements make UK debut

Medical supplier Scrubs UK has launched the Vita DSO range of dietary supplements in the UK.

Every product in the range, which launched last month, contained 20mg of patented melon extract Extramel, Scrubs UK said.

Each of the seven products included additional vitamins and minerals to address “specific consumer health needs”, it said. Vita Urinary Health contained added African plum tree bark extract, while Vita For My Heart contained vitamins B9 and B12 to relieve tiredness, Scrubs UK added.

The range was previously only available in France, where Scrubs UK CEO Amanda Ling said it had already established a “growing base of loyal consumers”.

All products contained 60 capsules, with a recommended dose of one or two capsules a day, it said. Prices range from £21.50 for Vita Urinary Health to £26 for Vita For My Heart.

If a pharmacy sells such 'tonics', which I presume are classed as food and not medication, which has not been clinically tested does it undermine the image of pharmacists as health professionals and promote the image of pharmacists as shopkeepers?

Brian Austen, Senior Management

Whats the clinical evidence that it improves your health? I presume none!
