Welsh board: bring pharmacy 'out of the shadows'
The Welsh national board of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society has launched a manifesto calling for pharmacy to be brought “out of the shadows”.
The manifesto, A Prescription for Better Health, calls for greater roles for pharmacists in improving prescribing practices, reducing prescription errors, and delivering public health interventions.
The manifesto also underlines pharmacy’s role in managing chronic conditions, and recommends the implementation of additional enhanced services and the further integration of pharmacists into the primary and secondary care teams.
RPS director for Wales Paul Gimson said pharmacists were “often a silent partner” in health care, and action was needed to bring the pharmacy profession “out of the shadows and into the forefront of NHS services.”
