The face of pharmacy is changing, and with it the roles of pharmacy staff. No longer are counter assistants the intermediary between the public and the pharmacist – they are now trained individuals who deal with a range of clinical issues.
To aid pharmacy staff and students in their roles, a new app has been created that provides access to evidence-based information to aid over-the-counter consultations. It can be used in-store on a mobile or tablet to view 70 conditions commonly seen in community practice.
The information in the OTC Consult app has been derived from evidence-based reference sources, such as Nice, the Cochrane Library and NHS Choices.
