Martindale corrects stated sucrose content in methadone
Martindale Pharmaceuticals has announced corrections to errors in the amount of sucrose stated in two of its methadone products.
The incorrect information was given for the total sucrose content and daily maximum dose, which was stated on methadone oral solution 1mg/ml and methadone mixture 1mg/ml.
The accurate data of both products is 441.5mg/ml total sucrose content and 26.49g daily maximum dose.
The methadone had incorrectly stated these quantities as 197.17mg/ml and 11.83g respectively.
Martindale said: “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by this misinformation.”
It had submitted a “variation to amend this error”, in the summary of product characteristics (SmPC) and the patient information leaflet (PIL), to the Medicines & Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), it added.
The current SmPC and PIL for these products “have now been updated with the correct quantity of sucrose”, it said.
