Morrisons to scrap enhanced pay for locums who complete MURs
Morrisons will no longer offer enhanced pay for locums who complete medicines use reviews (MURs) from September this year, C+D has learned.
In an email sent on behalf of Morrisons, and seen by C+D, the supermarket said that despite the change, it will still expect the service to be carried out on any patients “who will benefit from an MUR…in the interest of patient safety and wellbeing”.
The change to locum rates will come into effect across all of its pharmacies in England and Wales in September 2016, Morrisons confirmed to C+D yesterday (July 26).
“We believe that MURs are a fantastic service for patients and should be treated as ‘business as usual’ in a modern pharmacy,” it said.
Morrisons did not confirm what its current locum rates are.
Results from the C+D Salary Survey 2016 revealed that locum rates have reached an eight-year low, at £20.50 per hour.
