Join C+D's Big Debate on pharmacy supervision tonight at 7pm
Pharmacy supervision is the topic on everyone’s lips at the moment, following revived discussions on how it should be “refreshed”.
Join C+D’s fifth Big Debate on the C+D Community tonight (November 16) to discuss how pharmacy supervision can be modernised without compromising patient safety.
Pharmacy bodies announced in May this year that they had formed a cross-sector group to “refresh” discussions around changes to supervision in pharmacy.
The Community Pharmacy Supervision Practice Group – which includes members from the Association of Independent Multiple pharmacies (AIMp), the Company Chemists’ Association (CCA), the National Pharmacy Association (NPA), and the Pharmacists’ Defence Association (PDA) – met for the first time on September 28.
The group will formally start the discussion once a chair and secretary are appointed, AIMp CEO Leyla Hannbeck told C+D last month.
Tonight’s discussion brings together five sector experts: David Reissner, chair of the Pharmacy Law & Ethics Association (joining the discussion in a personal capacity); Gareth Jones, head of corporate affairs at the NPA; Jonathan Smith, superintendent pharmacist at Mayberry Pharmacy; Mark Koziol, PDA chair; and Paul Summerfield, locum pharmacist and director of Pharmaceutical Defence Limited.
Join the debate to discuss:
- What is meant by “pharmacy supervision” and what the current legal situation is
- Whether pharmacy supervision needs to be reconsidered
- What pharmacy supervision could look like in the future and what changes are needed to realise this
Remind yourself of where the talks on supervision are today by reading this C+D article and join the debate later from 7pm.
