C+D and NPA launch 'Pharmacy Show and Tell' campaign
C+D and the National Pharmacy Association (NPA) have joined forces to document the “fascinating” work pharmacists are doing every day.
The Pharmacy Show and Tell initiative is aimed at gathering fresh evidence of the benefits of pharmacy services, which often go unrecorded and uncelebrated.
Over the coming months, C+D will be publishing a series of case studies from pharmacies and pharmacists across the UK, which have been suggested by the NPA. C+D is also calling on readers to supply their own stories (see below).
Commenting on the launch of Pharmacy Show and Tell, C+D editor James Waldron said: “This initiative is a great opportunity for C+D to live by its motto of not only informing the community pharmacy sector, but also championing and supporting it.”
“At a time of increased pressures for many C+D readers, I hope the range of case studies C+D and the NPA will be highlighting over the coming months will inspire pharmacists to find innovative ways to deliver services and support patients.”
The first case study – published on C+D’s dedicated Pharmacy Show and Tell webpage today – describes how Lancashire pharmacist Alistair Gray has pioneered the world’s first fully integrated hospital-to-community pharmacy referral system.
NPA head of communications Stephen Fishwick said: “It is one of the NPA’s core beliefs that pharmacies must be progressive and modern, while at the same time being true to the historic values of pharmacy as a personal, caring profession.”
“In particular, the sector must work to optimise the use of technology to strengthen pharmacy’s locally based service proposition.”
